The IGNOU Regional Centre Bhagalpur is the third Regional Centre in the state of Bihar which has jurisdiction over three districts namely, Bhagalpur, Munger and Banka. IGNOU‘s network in the Region constitutes of three regular Study Centres and one PSC for BEd.

These three districts were earlier part of IGNOU Regional Centre Patna. Regional Centre has started functioning from a camp location within the premises of Marwari College Bhagalpur. The Bhagalpur Regional Centre has been shifted to a new location, at Suman Plaza, 3rd Floor, Jail Road, Tilkamanjhi, Bhagalpur 812001. The Office of Regional Centre is housed in sprawling premises with area of 4000 sq. ft. there are 14 big airy room and one big conference room where about 100 learners can be seated.

At presently it provides to the needs of the learners in the four Regular Study Centre, two Programme Study Centre, three Jail Study Centre and one more new Special Study Centre, at Tarar College Tarar, Bhagalpur was established in Aug 2013.

As part of this endeavor, several programmes such as Bachelor' Degree Programmes, Diploma Programmes, Master's Degree Programmes, Post Graduate Diploma Programmes and Certificates Programmes are being offered full-time on campus, Today, it serves the educational aspirations of over thousands of students in Bhagalpur Region. RC Bhagalpur offers 7 Bachelor's Degree, 21 certificate, 6 diploma, 7 PG Diploma and 10 Master Degree programmes from conventional institutions of higher learning, professional organizations, and industry among others. About 7621 admission were recorded from Jan 12- Jan 14.

The Objective of the Regional Centre is to:

• Provide access to higher education to all segments of the society.
• Offer high-quality, innovative and need-based programmes at different levels, to all those who require them.
• Reach out to the disadvantaged by offering programmes in all parts of the Bhagalpur at affordable costs.
